Ceramic Crowns

Ceramic crowns are "full caps" that are placed over the remaining tooth structure to resemble a natural, healthy looking tooth. These are required when there is not enough natural tooth structure remaining or to replace old leaking or cosmetically inadequate crowns.

Ceramic crowns are also used to repair more extensive chips, cracks and broken teeth. A Crown is a "complete-cover-restoration" that is designed with the use of Cerec CAD/Cam technology which is then milled, manufactured and characterised in the practice. They are then cemented in the same visit - thus, no downtime or the need for temporary restorations anymore. Starting with a digital impression of your mouth, a crown is designed on the Cerec machine and manufactured chair side, whilst you wait. The process in its entirety takes about 30 minutes. Melrose Dental Studio only uses full ceramic crowns which means that there is no metal visible to compromise aesthetics and thus replicating a truly natural looking and feeling crown. Located close in Melrose, Johannesburg, we are easily accessed from Sandton, Rosebank, Sandhurst, Morningside, Greenside, Lindin, Bryanston and Parktown.
